We would like to hear from employers who need employees training in the fields of engineering, healthcare, ICT, construction, life sciences and logistics. These employers would be part of the pilot programme or may simply be interested in taking on some of the newly retrained employees to meet a skills gap.
The scheme is similar to an apprenticeship or graduate programme but applies to adults who have transferred from other industries due to redundancy. Employer partners will pledge an agreed number of new roles for jobseekers to join the retraining scheme. Education partners deliver training based on the skills needs identified by employers, with funding for training provided by the scheme.
Through the scheme, employees are matched with an appropriate training programme and in some cases employed by the partner company for the duration of the scheme. When the programme ends employees either remain in a permanent role within the partner organisation or are supported to find permanent employment within the industry, with the addition of relevant training.
We are keen to work with Employers in the Region who have identified skills needed within their workforce, or future recruitment needs, to develop a retraining offer.
